LEWISTON — The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society has so many adult cats and so little room left for them that over the weekend it dropped its adoption fee, offering the cats free to good homes.

Cats have been dumped onto county roads outside of Comanche. What’s worse, the city employees who were caught in the act, said the city manager ordered it after the cats were caught inside the city limits.

Four cats and a dog were rescued and special oxygen masks were used to resuscitate them. The cause of the fire is not known.
